Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about purchasing and installing your mini split system.

How do I choose the right BTU size for my room?

Selecting the correct BTU (British Thermal Units) depends on the square footage of your space. Generally, 9,000 BTU covers up to 400 sq. ft., 12,000 BTU covers up to 550 sq. ft., and 18,000 BTU covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. Factors like ceiling height, insulation, and sunlight exposure also play a role.

Can I install a mini split system myself?

While DIY-friendly units exist, we highly recommend professional installation by a licensed HVAC technician. Professional installation ensures your warranty remains valid and guarantees that the refrigerant lines are vacuumed and charged correctly for optimal efficiency.

What is the typical shipping timeline for large units?

Most orders are processed within 1-2 business days. Due to the weight and size of mini split systems, they are shipped via LTL (Less Than Truckload) freight. Delivery typically takes 5-10 business days depending on your location within the continental United States.

What is your return policy for HVAC equipment?

We offer a 30-day return policy for units in their original, unopened packaging. Please note that once a unit has been installed or the refrigerant lines have been cut, it cannot be returned. Return shipping costs for freight items are the responsibility of the customer.

Do these systems come with a manufacturer warranty?

Yes, all systems sold through Mini Split Systems Direct come with a manufacturer warranty covering parts and the compressor. To activate the warranty, most brands require proof that the system was installed by a certified HVAC professional.

What is the difference between Single-Zone and Multi-Zone systems?

A Single-Zone system consists of one outdoor condenser and one indoor air handler to cool a single room. A Multi-Zone system uses one larger outdoor condenser to power multiple indoor units (up to 5), allowing for independent temperature control in different rooms.
